PT PCM Kabel Indonesia, a pioneer in the marine cable sector and the first to be certified by the Indonesian Classification Bureau (BKI), has been gaining increasing trust in the domestic and international shipping market since 2003.

This time, PCM Kabel Indonesia has been entrusted with the construction of the Scorpene Evolve submarine at PT PAL Indonesia, a strategic project for the French Naval Group.

The MoU signing between PT PCM Kabel Indonesia and the French Naval Group took place during the Indo Defense 2024 Exhibition and Forum at the Jakarta International Expo on July 12, 2025.

Witnessed by the Director of Defense Industry Technology (Tekindhanan) at the Ministry of Defense, Air Marshal Dedy Laksmono, the MoU signing took place between the French Naval Group and PT PCM Kabel Indonesia.

The MoU was signed by Naval Group’s Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Madam Marie Laure Bourgeois, and PT PCM Kabel Indonesia’s President Director, Michael Sutandar, ST, MBA.

In addition to PCM Kabel Indonesia, other companies also signed MoUs with Naval Group, including PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI), PT Barata Indonesia, PT Teknik Tadakara Sumberkarya (TTS), PT Infoglobal Teknologi Semesta (Infoglobal), PT Hariff Dipa Persada (Hariff Defense), and PT Santoso Teknindo.

He explained that the Scorpene Evolve submarine project is mandated by the Ministry of Defense to involve and use domestic components if the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) meets the requirements.

For your information, this submarine project marks a new chapter in strengthening national defense technological capabilities, particularly in submarine construction, known as the most complex and strategic technology in underwater protection systems.

This project is part of a contract signed in 2024 between the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, Naval Group, and PT PAL Indonesia.

The 1,800-2,800 ton class submarines, equipped with Advanced and Improved Propulsion (AIP) systems, will be built entirely domestically by Indonesian engineers. This project also demonstrates the country’s commitment to accelerating technology transfer and strengthening the efficiency of the maritime defense industry.
